2005 / 2006 Season : November 2005

... at a glance :

Regular Season, Continued...

Wednesday, Nov 02HOME : Canucks vs. Wild @ 7:00 pm, General Motors Place (Vancouver, BC)  FINAL: Canucks 2 - Wild 1 : With Todd Bertuzzi already in the penalty box and less than three minutes to go in the game, the Canucks found themselves in penalty trouble as Ryan Kesler and Sami Salo consecutively both received delay of game penalties for shooting the puck over the glass on clearing attempts.  This gave the Minnesota Wild a 6 on 3 man advantage after they pulled their goalie for the extra attacker.  The Canucks weathered the storm and pulled off a win. ~ See Story ~

Friday, Nov 04HOME : Canucks vs. Blue Jackets @ 7:00 pm, General Motors Place (Vancouver, BC)  FINAL: Canucks 5 - Blue Jackets 3 : Brendan Morrison tried some great moves on a wrap around attempt but the puck slid under Columbus goalie Marc Denis who kept the puck out of the net.  Anson Carter had a great night with one goal and two assists.  The Blue Jackets battled hard to come back and make it close, pulling within one goal.  Canucks defended well towards the end and Markus Naslund got the empty net goal. ~ See Story ~

Saturday, Nov 05AWAY : Flames vs. Canucks @ 7:00 pm, Pengrowth Saddledome (Calgary, AB)  FINAL: Flames 1 - Canucks 0 :  A spirited game with penalties and some rough stuff, the Flames had the offensive edge in a close game.  The Canucks had a 5 on 3 man-advantage but were unable to tie the game against a hot goalie Miikka Kiprusoff and the solid defense of the Flames.  Marcus Nilson got the game winner for Calgary ~ See Story ~

Monday, Nov 07AWAY : Flames vs. Canucks @ 6:00 pm, Pengrowth Saddledome (Calgary, AB)  FINAL: Flames 4 - Canucks 3 : Todd Bertuzzi had a great night with one goal and an assist on a nice pass to Markus Naslund, who also scored with two goals in the game.  Dion Phaneuf got the game winner for Calgary as the Canucks found themselves short-handed on a 5 on 3 powerplay.  ~ See Story ~

Wednesday, November 9th, 2005 : Canuck Player Trivia ~ how well do you know the Canucks?

Thursday, Nov 10HOME : Canucks vs. Avalanche @ 7:00 pm, General Motors Place (Vancouver, BC)  FINAL: Avalanche 5 - Canucks 3 : The Avalanche opened the floodgates and scored four unanswered goals in the first period after what seemed like a defensive breakdown by the Canucks.  The Canucks came on strong in the second period to try and catch up.  Ed Jovanovski scored the first goal for the Canucks (assists Markus Naslund, Brendan Morrison).  Then a perfect pass from Brendan Morrison found Todd Bertuzzi alone in front of Colorado goalie David Aebischer making it 4-2 (other assist going to Markus Naslund).  The Canucks hopes were once again dashed while they were on the powerplay and the Avalanche snowed them under with a short-handed goal by Karlis Skrastins (assists Steve Konowalchuk, Ian Laperriere).  It was too little too late when the Canucks scored their third goal with less than two minutes to go in the game.  Richard Park got the goal after being set up by Henrik Sedin and Anson Carter. ~ See Story ~

Sunday, Nov 13HOME : Canucks vs. Red Wings @ 7:00 pm, General Motors Place (Vancouver, BC)  FINAL: Canucks 4 - Red Wings 1 : Todd Bertuzzi gets three goals and notches his 4th career hat-trick ~  Way to go Bert!  Canucks goalie Dan Cloutier returned after missing five games with a concussion. ~ See Story ~

Wednesday, Nov 16AWAY : Sharks vs. Canucks @ 7:30 pm, HP Pavilion (San Jose, CA, USA)  FINAL: Canucks 3 - Sharks 1 : Richard Park scored the Canucks' first short-handed goal of the season while Dan Cloutier made 24 saves in the game.  Ed Jovanovski scored and got his 300th career point.  Marcel Goc got the goal for the Sharks. ~ See Story ~

Thursday, Nov 17AWAY : Kings vs. Canucks @ 7:30 pm, Staples Center (Los Angeles, CA, USA)  FINAL: Kings 5 - Canucks 4 : Daniel Sedin scored a beauty from Henrik Sedin and Anson Carter.  The Kings were up 5-1 in the third period as the Canucks tried to stage a comeback.  Todd Bertuzzi had a goal and an assist, while Markus Naslund had two goals and an assist, but they were unable to tie the game up late in the third period. ~ See Story ~

Sunday, Nov 20AWAY : Mighty Ducks vs. Canucks @ 1:00 pm, Arrowhead Pond (Anaheim, CA, USA)  FINAL: Canucks 3 - Mighty Ducks 2 : Where fair is not fair in love and war, the officials were calling penalties left, right and center.  Sami Salo struck first with a goal on a screened slapshot on the powerplay.  Andy McDonald put one past goalie Dan Cloutier on the Anaheim powerplay.  Trevor Linden got his second goal of the season on his first penalty shot ever beating goalie Ilya Bryzgalov (who replaced goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere) at the end of the second period.  Rob Niedermayer tied the game again at 2-2 on yet another powerplay early in the third period.  Sami Salo got his second goal of the day on a 5 on 5 putting the Canucks back in the lead.  Daniel Sedin had a 2 on 1 with Todd Bertuzzi but he hit the post with less than two minutes to go in the third period.  The Ducks pulled their goalie for the extra attacker.  Teemu Selanne, Scott Niedermayer, Bryan Allen and Jarkko Ruutu all got penalties with about half a minute to go, but the Canucks won the game. ~ See Story ~

Tuesday, Nov 22HOME : Canucks vs. Blackhawks @ 7:00 pm, General Motors Place (Vancouver, BC)  FINAL: Canucks 3 - Blackhawks 1 : A great effort by Ryan Kesler tonight, with several good chances finally beating goalie Nikolai Khabibulin.  Markus Naslund and Henrik Sedin got the other two goals for Vancouver, while Mark Bell scored for Chicago. ~ See Story ~

Thursday, Nov 24HOME : Canucks vs. Sharks @ 7:00 pm, General Motors Place (Vancouver, BC)  FINAL: Canucks 3 - Sharks 2 :  Patrick Marleau scored first for San Jose on the 5 on 3 powerplay in the first period.  Todd Bertuzzi made a nice pass to Wade Brookbank who tied the game at 1-1 in the second period.  Marcel Goc put one past Canucks goalie Alex Auld in the third period.  Todd Bertuzzi made a nice backhand pass on a San Jose turnover to Markus Naslund who tied the game at 2-2 in the third period.  Anson Carter got the game winner 55 seconds later from Henrik and Daniel Sedin as the opposing team had a player crash the net dislodging it.  The goal went to video review but was ruled a goal as it seemed to be dislodged intentionally.  Game Notes: Wade Brookbank had one goal and one assist; Todd Bertuzzi had two assists; Markus Naslund had one goal extending his point streak to eight straight games; Anson Carter got the game winner with his 6th goal of the season. ~ See Story ~

Saturday, Nov 26AWAY : Coyotes vs. Canucks @ 7:00 pm, Glendale Arena (Phoenix, AZ, USA)  FINAL: Coyotes 2 - Canucks 1 :  Sean O'Donnell and Ladislav Nagy got the goals for Phoenix.  Anson Carter gets his 7th goal of the season for the Canucks, while Canucks goalie Alex Auld stops Shane Doan on a penalty shot.  Coyotes goalie Curtis Joseph was outstanding as he got his 407th career win, tied with Glenn Hall at 7th place for all time victories. ~ See Story ~

Wednesday, Nov 30HOME : Canucks vs. Avalanche @ 7:00 pm, General Motors Place (Vancouver, BC)  FINAL: Canucks 5 - Avalanche 2 :  Joe Sakic and Alex Tanguay scored for the Avalanche.  Josh Green got his first goal of the season for the Canucks and Brendan Morrison scored the go-ahead goal on a breakaway in the second period.  Also scoring for the Canucks were Henrik Sedin, Jarkko Ruutu and Markus Naslund.
